Mycophenolate mofetil belongs to the group of medications known asimmunosuppressants. It is used in combination with other medications to prevent the rejection of organ transplants by suppressing the body's natural defense, the immune system. It does this by preventing the formation of a certain type of white blood cell (called lymphocytes) that would normally attack the transplanted organ.
